Key internal developments across seaports

In May 2025, several important internal updates were recorded across Vietnam’s seaport network, including leadership transitions and infrastructure initiatives. Highlights include:

1. New CEO appointed at Da Nang Port:

  • Mr. Nguyễn Văn Thịnh was appointed as the new General Director of Da Nang Port on May 2, 2025, replacing Mr. Trần Hữu Hòa upon his retirement.
  • Mr. Thịnh previously served as Deputy CEO of Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) and has significant experience in managing Central region ports.

2. Smart port upgrade project at Cai Mep:

  • A USD 2.3 million project was launched to integrate AI and IoT technologies into container monitoring, cargo handling, and traffic flow optimization.
  • Phase 1 is expected to be completed by the end of September 2025.

3. Staff training at Hai Phong Port:

  • A 3-week course titled “Logistics Data Analysis Skills” has been introduced for 60 technical and operations personnel.
  • The program is a collaboration with Vietnam Maritime University.

4. Worker support measures during summer heat:

  • Ports such as Tan Cang – Cat Lai and Quy Nhon have added shaded shelters, provided electrolyte drinks, and increased medical shifts since May 10.
